Southwest Care Center has been a GOLD Sponsor every year - yep, they donate $1,000 to our students every year!
They've created the following FREE events and we think that our school community (that's you :)) will enjoy participating in these events.
It's also a fun and healthy way to connect with other GCS families.
Southwest Care Center is thrilled to offer Santa Feans the opportunity to participate in the national program
Walk With A Doc
1st walk is May 1st, 5:30PM at 901 West Alameda in Casa Solana Center
This program is being embraced by communities across the country and is adding new chapters every week. The concept is simple, it is a chance to get to know doctors out of a clinic environment, receive information about an interesting health topic and take a 45-minute walk together. There is more and more research about the amazing physical and emotional benefits of walking. Come share this free, healthful activity with your friends, family and neighbors and get walkin’! Everyone is invited. Please help us spread the word to anyone looking to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
More information about WWAD:
According to the American Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. Think it doesn’t do any good? Think again. Walking is low impact; easier on the joints than running. It is safe – with a doctor’s okay – for people with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions, and those who are more than 20% overweight. In addition, research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise! That quick stroll around the block seems a little more worthwhile now, doesn’t it?
Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. What better way to start your week than on your feet making strides to help your heart and improving your general health to live longer! While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the opportunity to have questions answered by local physicians.
This program was started in Columbus, OH in April of 2005 by Dr. David Sabgir and has now expanded throughout the country. You don’t need any special gear and there are no special rules. Just put on a pair of comfortable shoes and walk alone, with friends, a partner or family or with a group. It’s a personal preference.
We'll see you on May 1!
