Mrs. Serna is currently a first grade teacher and has been at Gonzales for 19 years. In her 23 years of teaching, she has taught grades first through sixth and many combo classes along the way.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University and the College of Santa Fe. A love of working with children and desire to give back to the community that she loves so much are the reasons she became a teacher.
Santa Fe has always been Mrs. Serna’s home, so it wasn't a difficult choice to live and work in Santa Fe. She has worked on many school-wide committees, is a member of La Sociedad Folklorica, and is a former Fiesta Queen. Most importantly, she loves being a mom and a teacher.
Mrs. Serna enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching movies, and being outdoors. She has three beautiful children, two of whom will have attended Gonzales Community School through the eighth grade, with her youngest starting this year. She has a very helpful and supportive husband that has helped moved her classroom throughout the years and attended many school functions.
