Our Gonzales Lobo athletic teams provide students the opportunity to develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship skills, while promoting physical and mental health.

Volleyball

Volleyball is offered for 7th and 8th Grade Girls - Teams are governed by the New Mexico Athletic Association.  All student athletes are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average and adhere to the SFPS Code of Conduct and NMAA behavior policies.   Students must also complete a physical prior to participating.  Current volleyball coaches are Ms. Vanessa Coriz (GCS ESS teacher) and Ms. Becke Vollmer (GCS Administrative Assistant).

Volleyball takes place in September through early October.  Tryouts will be from August 22-29, 2017. For game information check out the announcements in the weekly Thursday Note and on the School Calendar.

Football

Football is offered for 7th and 8th Grade Boys - The team is governed by the New Mexico Athletic Association.  All student athletes are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average and adhere to the SFPS Code of Conduct and NMAA behavior policies.   Students must also complete a physical prior to participating.  Current football coaches are Mr. Christopher Lopez and Mr. Gabriel Jaramillo.

Football takes place in September through early October.  Practice is Monday-Thursday from 4-6pm at Aspen Community Magnet School. All middle school students are welcome to join, though they must have a completed physical and a concussion course completion certificate to participate.

Basketball

3rd through 6th Grades - Basketball for third through sixth grade boys and girls is offered by the Santa Fe Youth Independent Basketball Program.  Currently, Ms. Toni Chavez (GCS Paraprofessional) is a commissioner for the Santa Fe Youth Independent Basketball Program and coaches will be announced.

Girls basketball takes place in October and November.  Look for tryout announcements in the weekly Thursday Note and on the School Calendar.

Wrestling

Kindergarten through Eighth Grade - Wrestling for boys and girls is offered by Santa Fe Junior Wrestling.  Current coaches are Mr. Jeff Howley and Mr. Daniel Lujan.  Ms. Shante Alejo (Paraprofessional) is also a contact for wrestling.  Please email gonzalespta@gmail.com for their contact information.
